Mem Council Forum

The question that we sent to forum was raised and the reply was that it has been forwarded to HO and that they would send us a reply when something was done. Also they did say that it was a good idea and would make sure it went to the right people in HO

Day One.

3 points of order in the first hour of Conference.

1.They way that we had to sign in and collect our electronic voting pads which caused long queues and delayed start of Conference.

2.Why Mem council where not sitting on floor with delegates.

3. Could the Board of Trustees Stand up when they where being introduced, so Chairman went through the names again.

Digital voting system checked and working, Eddie the Conference Chairman Okayed system.


Chairman's report. Pathway for Growth was proceeding with stage 2 being rolled out later this year.


First of the 2 speakers was the First Minister of Wales

Mr. Carwyn Jones, who talked about what the Welsh Assembly was doing or going do for the Veterans of Wales.

DGs Address. Income had increased up to £6.7 million but expenses was £3.8 million

£83.8 million was spent on benefits last year against an income of £78.3 million. 93 Be the Boss business where started.

Poppy Appeal £42.8 Million raised

National Accounts

Income down, but assets remain stable. 

BFI interest is 2%.

General Fund is £2.5 million


Chairman took part in Parade to War Memorial, it was the farthest that he had marched since Basic Training.


Day 2

President presented cups and certificates a full list is on Legion web site.

Second guest speaker was Gordon Moore Dominion of Canada Legion President.


We then had a full day of Motions i.e. 15 to get through

Out of the 15 10 were passed 3 lost and two withdrawn.

This was Mr. John Farmers last Conference as Chairman. We were shown a presentation of some of his highlights in his 3 years as Chairman, and then he was given a standing ovation as he handed the chain of office to the new Chairman John Crisford.

Conference was closed at 15.30.
